Shadows leapt along the shore as rocket and league agents alike engaged in combat. The sound of clashing swords and daggers were a comforting cacophony along the bells and chimes of war.

[break][break] A Rocket enforcer shouts atop of one of the organization's battle ships, directing towards one of the League's own. A bridge is spawned across and grunts spill into the foe ship like an army of DURANT.

[break][break] Ice crystals spawn under the ship's edge, forcing it to a stop.

[break][break] And admist the masses of Rocket grunts, one of their own emerges. Violet eyes pin Remiel Calcifet the minute he lands.

[break][break] "Ambassador Calcifet," his voice rings cold. "Are you ready to die?"

[break][break] HATRED burns like purple fire in his eyes as his Kingler steps in front of him, using SWORDS DANCE.

The beach is a battleground the likes of which Remiel Calcifet hadn't seen since the fight for the PRIMAL NODES. If one had to guess, this island held some source of hidden CRYSTABLOOMS or INFINITY ENERGY to drive men and women to such violence. The black-haired prince, of course, had his own reasons for participating: to keep TEAM ROCKET from gaining any ground.

After a series of events, including various attempts on his life, the conflict had very much become personal to him. And, as if ARCEUS was playing a cruel joke on him, the one person to represent all that was wrong with his former organization would soon appear: ADMIN jayden cross himself. The prince glares at the man.

Surely, he knew that he'd abandoned his post as GALARIAN AMBASSADOR months ago. Whether it was to prove that he didn't care, or whether it was a simple but poor attempt at baiting him into some defensive action, Remiel would not answer.

Instead, he'd cast a LIGHTNING STILETTO at the man before his imposing DRUDDIGON launched itself at the KINGLER with a DRAGON TAIL.

Jayden knew indeed that Ambassador Calcifet had retired months ago. Just like he knew that Remiel Calcifet had run away to the ranks of the League, abandoning both home and country, for some far-fetched notion likely fed to him by the likes of League rats.

[break][break] Just like he knew that declan walsh had all but declared a death warrant on him. And Jayden, as perhaps the most loyal member of Rocket, was there to fill it.

[break][break] Jayden leaps over sparks of lightening, sprinting across the wooden deck. The Kingler contests the Druddigon's DRAGON TAIL with a HAMMER ARM, power swelling within it's claws.

[break][break] Daggers made of ice fly from the admin's palm, as he leaps and tries to tackle the traitor to the ground.

Alarmed by the sudden casting of ICE, Remiel is caught off guard and suffers a few cuts across his shoulder for it. When one of the ice spikes manages to pierce him, however, the royal snaps out of it and executes a TELEPORT moments before Jayden can tackle him. He reappears behind the man afterward, wasting no time in pulling the now bloody ice spike out of his shoulder before casting it off to the side.

"Y-You're an AVATAR then?" He inquires.

But with who?

The ICE brought ARTICUNO to mind almost instantly. Though he hadn't heard anything about it leaving Laurence Anderson behind, he supposed the existence of another ARTICUNO from a different realm was not entirely impossible. There was also REGICE to take into consideration, with the existence of REGIDRAGO and REGIROCK all but confirming its own.

It only takes the archaeologist another moment to recall the events surrounding the RUINOUS TRIO to connect the dots together. One had already reportedly aligned itself with a ROCKET member. So the most likely legendary creature he could fathom forming a bond with Jayden was...

"CHIEN-PAO."

The name is uttered through gritted teeth, a mixture of pain and distaste in his voice as INTERDREAM MIST begins to seep onto the beach from the island mainland. Crab claw meets ROUGH SKIN in the meantime as his Druddigon tanks the blow and endeavors to CRUNCH down on the shellfish with its powerful jaws.

[break][break] How ironic that Remiel Calcifet would ask. After all this time, as if that was the only thing that the ambassador could bother to care about. As if that was the only thing that tied them to one another.

[break][break] "It is no business of yours," he growled, eyes fierce, as a snowstorm whipped around him. HATE streaming in every freezing breath.

[break][break] Avatarship was a known conclusion, especially from one avatar to another. Perhaps one could sense the undoubtable infinity energy that flowed between them. But there was also the power of SYGNA SUITS, one of which Jayden also wore; ones that could allow a regular human to be imbued with the power of the pokemon that they were bonded to.

[break][break] Regardless of whether it be avatar or sygna suit, regular pokemon or legendary —

[break][break] Jayden did not care.

[break][break] All he cared about was killing Remiel Calcifet.

[break][break] A feeble PROTECT attempts to protect itself from that CRUNCH, as his claw swings out with HAMMER ARM. In the same breadth, Jayden sprints forward with his own dagger, aimed to strike Remiel Calcifet right in the chest.

There's VENOM in Jayden's glare. Almost as if Remiel had touched some sort of nerve. It had been some time since they'd been allies. Almost a year. Just as the exiled prince could only speculate about the origins of Jayden's abilities, any guess about his sensibilities these days was pure speculation. But he certainly had a few.

In all his run-ins with TEAM ROCKET members he'd once called brother or sister, he was beginning to realize how much of them wore their hearts on their sleeves. It hadn't seemed so obvious before. Standing from the outside and looking in offered a truly different perspective.

There's little time to ruminate on that further as his Druddigon is knocked out with a powerful HAMMER ARM to the head, however. It hadn't expected the Kingler to execute such defensive measures so swiftly before following up with an attack. And now it had paid the price for its pride.

Unfortunately, there's no time for Remiel to recall the dragon just yet. He instead hastily summons a DOUBLADE into both of his hands to parry Jayden's attempt. The clash of blades creates sparks before the royal bounces back to create some distance.

"You want to kill me that bad, don't you? For what?" He asks, shifting posture into a classically trained defensive stance. "Hatred? Glory? Or mindless loyalty?"

How many years had he known Remiel Calcifet, how many years would he have known him longer, had he not decided to betray them?

[break][break] Jayden had always worn his heart on his sleeve, in some capacity or another. At least to the people who knew him. The people who mattered. But now, all his hurt and betrayal and anger was out in the open for anyone to see.

[break][break] He was raw and bare — like an ultra beast caught in a state of frenzy.

[break][break] His own ice-cold dagger braces against that Duoblade. How many times had he and Remiel sparred like this? How many times had they bonded over their shared love of these very swords that could tear them apart?

[break][break] ICE whips around them as they engage in swordplay. As Remiel shifts into a defensive posture, Jayden remains on the offensive. Stabbing, jabbing, attacking whichever opening he can find.

[break][break] "You knew what you were signing up for when you joined," he growled. "And you knew who you were betraying when you left!"

[break][break] "Accept your fate, Remiel Calcifet."

[break][break] "And perish."

[break][break] With his dagger, he sprints forward and aims a blow for the ex-ambassador's ribs.

"Things weren't that simple!" Remiel roars back. "And my fate was never yours to decide!"

Swept up in a fit of passion, the royal employs the use of his Doublade's AUTOTOMIZE (SPD+2) to counter Jayden's attack with his offensive strikes. At one point, he releases the ghostly blades from his hands and they continue the fight for him. He then takes this opportunity to leap backward and create some distance, but not before casting a LIGHTNING STILETTO in the ground.

An ELECTRIC FIELD suddenly surrounds them like a dome, emanating from the stiletto and increasing the royal's speed further while causing ELECTRIC DAMAGE the longer his enemies stay within it. But this does not deter the RAZOR SHELL that comes his way. And, though he is quick to try and evade it, it nearly tears him and his tactical gear to pieces as it passes through.

Pain-filled grunts mingle with the sound of clashing blades nearby. Remiel barely manages to keep himself standing, but the suffering from the multitude of bleeding cuts across his body is nearly overwhelming. Nevertheless, he manages to recall his Druddigon and summon a LEDYBA beside him.

This needed to end.

Now.

"So this is it, then?" He glares at Jayden as he's kept preoccupied with fending off his Doublade (for now). "We're going to fight to the death because you refuse to let me go? Because Walsh demanded it?"

[break][break] And isn't he the one who knows it best? The one who's life had always been in the clutches of Rocket, whether he wanted it to be or not?

[break][break] "But we choose Rocket anyway. Because we're family."

[break][break] Remiel Calcifet's blades fly from his hands and Jayden grits his teeth as he's forced to combat the flying swords, as electricity crackles around him. Pain shoots up his ankles as he's paralyzed in place, momentarily, furious eyes of violets following the ex-ambassador.

[break][break] Eventually, his own ghostly swords come to his aid. Samosek materializes, blades clanging brightly in defense of it's master.

[break][break] "You think this is because of declan walsh?"

[break][break] It is, it is, but it isn't —

[break][break] "Did you forget everything so quickly, Remiel?"

[break][break] HATRED blossoms in his chest then, lending him strength as he breaks forward towards him. A HAMMER ARM from his nearly Kingler swings towards the Ledyba.

[break][break] "That we were friends? That you betrayed me?"

[break][break] "THIS ‎ is your fault!"

[break][break] And with that, one of his blades finds it's way back into his hand where his other presses flat against the center of the blade, aimed towards the other galarian. A SPRINGTIDE STORM floods between them like a tempest.

The raw HATRED that suddenly permeates the air causes the Ledyba to shudder. When it realizes the Kingler has set its sights on it, it launches a MACH PUNCH in a panic. And, while this punch lands, it does not manage to stop the brutal HAMMER ARM that comes swinging its way.

Then, with a sickening splat, the Ledyba is KILLED.

Meanwhile, Remiel hardly has a chance to regard his loss as his former ally dashes forward with an attack. Between the SPRINGTIDE STORM and the electrical field, it is clear both agents are in dire straits. Even still, the black-haired royal manages to draw his short blade and dramatically clash it against Jayden's own.

"What has Rocket ever done for you besides use you like an attack dog?! You're nothing but an expendable tool to Walsh!" The exiled prince growls as the electricity flares throughout his body. Out of the periphery of his eye, he knows he'll be in real trouble soon. Thankfully, his Doublade realizes this as well.

As the battle wears on, even the Kingler's stamina is withered. So much so that even as his own attack lands the kill with a sickening crunch, that last-minute MACH PUNCH finishes pummeling him to death in that same instante.

[break][break] Tête-à-tête.

[break][break] An end in mutual demise.

[break][break] But Jayden is not willing to give up, not yet. He's empowered by a bitter HATRED like no another.

[break][break] The brand from declan walsh burns fiercely, shadow curling in the air around his arm like burnt smoke.

[break][break] 'A tool?'

[break][break] "Don't you see," he hissed, pushing back against the other's blade. "That's exactly the point! I am and will always be Rocket's Sword."

[break][break] "THAT'S THE PRICE OF LOYALTY."

[break][break] He winces as electricity blasts around his body, collecting around freezing ice. It sparks wildly as the SACRED SWORD aims to end this fight, and Remiel Calcifet once and for all.

How had Remiel ever understood him? Perhaps he never had. Back then, it had been simple enough for him to ignore all the red flags and closeted skeletons. Jayden was his ally, and he'd been far too preoccupied with fooling himself anyway. But he'd since been forced to confront the ugliness of his misdeeds multiple times over.[break][break]

Amidst the flurry of electric sparks and a storm of sharp petals, Remiel grits his teeth and summons the electricity at his feet to propel him backward.
